The Peixos de Palamós commercial director, Gerard Obiol has been involved in the recording produced by Prodeca, along with Joan Gimbernat from Easy Fish. During the celebration in Barcelona, a panel discussion was held led by journalist and program director Albert Closas, where sector employers explained their experience in opening new markets abroad and the support received from Prodeca.
The Catalan Minister of Agriculture, Meritxell Serret, accompanied by the Prodeca Managing Director, Ramon Sentmartí, opened the event, just to highlight the power and vitality of Catalan food sector and the boost experienced in terms of internationalization.
In 2016, agri-food exports will beat Catalan record and likelihood exceed the 9,101 million euros in 2015. The Catalan food industry has made unprecedented steps of opening, internationalization and innovation.
In the last 30 years, the industry has made a great commitment to internationalization and exports have increased by more than 1200%. The export of Catalan food sector grew by 47.20% in the last five years and have almost doubled (+ 91%) in the last 10 years.
During the first nine months of 2016, the products of primary processing, in absolute terms, have experienced higher growth compared to the same period of the previous year.
